The Lack
Sometimes you come across a band that puts out one album or EP that is simply amazing. Then that band disappears.
Itunes did a number on my MP3 collection so I began re-ripping all my CD's to my computer. In the midst of this huge endeavor I came across "The Lack" I simply clear blue cd case with the bands only full length album every put out. Memories of double drumming, electronic mayhem and screaming filled my brain.
I originally heard these guys on Invisible Records- Notes from the Real Underground. Then Sam and I had the pleasure of opening for them at the Bottleneck when Nekrovox was still a hit. The show was typical, Sam screaming and pressing buttons and I getting the next sound or song ready while disturbing video projected on a white sheet behind us.
After tear down they started setting up two drum sets on stage and I knew this was going to be awesome. Maybe from the golden days of Pigface and Ministry- I'm just a sucker for two drummers.
The members looked unassuming and only wore tight tee-shirts and jeans. I thought these must be the local indie rocker roadies that are helping. Turns out they were the band and there were here to destroy.
Sometimes a group of people will form a band that has so much potential and talent that you wish they stayed together and put out 20 years of material. But only one album is recorded to prove to the world that they did exist. Maybe its better this way, maybe this was a moment in time, planets were aligned and perfection can not be reproduced. I just think of what could have been.
Any bands out there that put out one album of perfection that are now gone?
